What to Expect
Making an initial appointment.
It can be a big step to reach out for support. When choosing to go into psychotherapy, it is important to find a psychotherapist who is the right 'match' for you.
I offer a free 40-minute initial meeting in order to help you decide. This is an opportunity for us to meet; for you to talk about why you are looking for psychotherapy and for me to explain how I work and to address any additional questions. I will give you a copy of my psychotherapy agreement, which covers the terms on which I work.
Please call or email me to arrange the initial meeting.
Following our intial meeting, if you decide to start psychotherapy with me, we would then meet for six sessions. There would be a review process towards the end of this period so that you can decide whether you would like to continue working together or if you would like the sessions to come to an end.
Session duration and cost
Sessions are an hour long and we would aim to meet on a weekly basis at the same time and day of the week.
I charge £60 per hour for an individual session. I do offer a limited number of concessionary places.
How long will we work together?
I am aware that being in therapy is a commitment on many levels. The length of time in therapy depends on the nature of what you are bringing and are willing to work with. Some clients stay for open-ended, long term therapy, others prefer more short term work, focussed on addressing a particular issue. It could range from a period of weeks to several years.
However, we would have regular reviews to find out if you are still finding the sessions useful.
