Reasons to come

People come to psychotherapy or counselling for many different reasons.  Some bring a specific issue to look at whilst others feel a more general sense of dissatisfaction or anxiety which they'd like support with.  Each situation is unique. I tailor my approach to meet each person's individual needs, working at the pace that is right for you.

The reasons people come to psychotherapy can include;
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • looking for orientation in your life
  • loss and bereavement
  • grief
  • wanting your story to be heard
  • wishing to be supported emotionally and psychologically
  • addressing early childhood trauma and how it impacts your life
  • wishing to be supported with preparing for a birth of a child and coping with adjustments to your family life
  • difficulties in relationships
  • anger
  • experience of abuse
  • going through challenges at work
  • loneliness
  •  feeling "not good enough";  low sense of self-worth
  •  wishing to get to know yourself more
  •  general sense of something is ‘wrong’ with me

It's my belief and my experience that we all have the answers to our own problems. There are times when it is hard for us to access those answers on our own, to hear our own voice. We may need the right conditions of warmth, attunment, safety and empathy to access the insight and inner knowing that lies within us.
My intention is to offer a warm, welcoming and supportive environment where you can express and explore the full range of your thoughts and feelings, and help you to discover and access the resources you need at this time in your life.
